Thanks for William Kempthorne for his ongoing underwriting support for SDR.

Two notes from listeners today that I will have to refer to the specialists. One, the FeedBlitz email service seems to trip some spam alarms in Thunderbird. I was concerned about this at Hotmail and similar accounts but from all reports they seem to be working ok. The other is the lengthy file name that displays on some MP3players that includes the full re-direct. That’s part of the Podtrac service that’s bringing us the Podtrac player- but I understand that’s a issue when the significant part of the file name won’t fit on the screen. Don’t know which podcatchers are involved but will report back.

Thanks for the Frappr pins and notes on the page. Interesting to see where all of the daily commutes are taking place. It looks like the average commute for SDR listener is somewhere between thirty and forty minutes, one way, although a sizable portion of the audience either works from home or lives at work, with zero commute.

You may note that the survey is now of the professional variety as opposed to the home brew. Your participation there is one of the most helpful things that you can do, allowing me to understand more about the audience and the direction that the ship gets steered.

I am learning more that I ever wanted to know about the load sharing capabilities of the new Xincom dual WAN router – that is supposed to combine the Verizon and Comcast feeds at home into something faster and more reliable. The box is slowly being tamed. The VPN for the day job is working fine, now that the appropriate ports are opened up.

Only thing vexing is slow connects and timeouts on FTP using Filezilla.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Home Network Help Podcast Live Event with Christiaan Stout on December 3rd at 11:00 am PST. He will be covering MythTV building, setup, and configuration.

A new addition to the site at SDR.com , an array of MobilCast Qualified handsets. The engineers at Melodeo run handsets through the mill and qualify them for the MobilCast service. The list changes every few days, as Sony Ericsson and Nokia enhance and obsolete various model numbers. I’ll try to keep it up to date.
