Thanks to Mark Chernesky for his underwriting support of SDR and greatly appreciated comments.

This podcast was prepared in early edition form from the hotel, edited at LAX and on the flight from LAX to ORD. The logistics of working with Annette Thomson on the east coast and making the deadline for the SDR listeners on the email subscription service – plus the trip from LAX to Chicago is probably not going to happen – so the may be a little short.

I am returning from the Portable Media Expo – a great show, and reunion of sorts with many that we’ve never met. It was a great chance to meet with fellow podcasters from TPN, as well as the FIT Friends in Technology and the new founders of the Podcaster News Network. All of these originated under TPN and are emerging to meet the needs of their members and audiences.

And what diversity there was: Hello to Jamie Nelson of Didgeplanet – a podcast for didgeridoo players – the Australian Aboriginal pipe. Think of that – and how wonderful it is that an audience – digeridooo players worldwide – now have a voice, the same medium as established pioneers like Dave Slusser at Evil Genius Chronicles with thousands of listeners.

We had broadcasters, media grappling with business issues– but well over half the attendees at this ‘business’ conference were motivated by some thing outside or above business – almost on a personal mission.

In the next few days I’ll try to share some of what I’ve learned – and let you know what I’m thinking about in the concept of YES / AND and how I think you’ll find that’s a good thing for this podcast.

One of the most exciting things technically is that within the coming week, SDR will be avialable on the Mobilcast Network – and be distributed through selected Nokia, Motorola Razr and Rokr and Sony Ericsson phones.
There’s a free download for those of you with those phones, and a Flash demo that anyone can play to get the concept.

It looks like the RSS feed was picked up overnight, and on the rental car bus I was able to listen to the current edition of SDR through the cellphone. Since the Melodeo system uses progressive download of and the cellphone is by definition always connected to the network, playback starts almost immediately.

More on that later in the week as well.

Don’t forget the FeedBlitz email service, which sends along a fresh copy of SDR in your mailbox each morning, with links to the comments and songs for your cubical listening enjoyment.
