Tipmonkies.com - I’m back there again, with a link to the new beta of Yahoo Maps - with accuracy to the fire hydrant level in front of the house. It’s not turned on yet, but looks like you will be able to send driving directions direct to your phone, just in case you ‘become temporarily misoriented’. When you survey the rest of the big-name mapping landscape, with the GoogleMap product, you have to hope that Mapquest has something up their sleeve.

Something new on the site tonight – actually two things. First, I’m remembering to put in direct links to the podcast so that you don’t have to be a subscriber to be able to listen and sample the mp3 directly. We had that some months ago, and thought it was about time for the return. The direct download is a good way to introduce others to the concept of podcasting, without the details of explaining RSS, podcatchers, and all that we take for granted if your colleague just wants to check out the program from the comfort of his cube.

The other thing that I am trying is a new service called Feedblitz - that offers the following, free of charge: Enter your email, and each morning your will have an email containing the post from SlashdotReview. Simple as that – their service reads the RSS overnight and packages the post into an HTML email, in your inbox the next morning.

We’ll see how that works, really – and if it turns out to have some obnoxious or unintended consequences it will leave as quickly as it came. If you wantto join the experiment and let it run for a few days, then drop a note at SDR@gmail and let me know how it works for you.
