Those of us on the East Coast missed it in the WSJ today, but the West Coast editions of the WSJ picked it up – a featured story on a topic that you already know about – Melodeo Mobilcast.First, you can download the program to your phone by entering your phone number on the web page. It sends you an SMS with a link, which – at least in the case of theMotorla Razr you press the Go button, and it installs. As I mentioned, Cingular has a $20/month data plan that’s all you can eat and .. the big take away .. by this time next year, one third of all phone handsets sold will have the capability.
A big burst of Frappr pins today – many from regions far away. Thanks to all for pins and photos. Hello also to Rob, in Sydney, Australia.
Don’t forget that an esy to forward email version of SDR is published each day, and includes links to the artist of the day.
Finally, a note on del.icio.us - the bookmarking site. I’ve been on it about a year, and found it very interesting to go back and see what I thought was worthwhile bookmarking. You might do the same and see how your interests have changed over the past year.
Don’t forget the listener survey - it is a very big part of the planning for the coming New Year. It’s at the upper right part of the site at SDR.com

Melodeo Mobilcast added two new phones this week the Sony Ericsson w800 and w900. These are just some of the new mobile phone handsets that can receive SDR and content such as NPR, CNN, and a growing number of podcasts directly, without a subscription. I’ll get them added to the page at SDR where we keep the list of phones that can receive podcasts. Mobilcast uses progressive download so the podcast you select starts playing in about 15 seconds. There is a demo at SlashdotReview that will give you a 45 second class, and make you an expert, even if you don’t have a new phone .Yet. It is VERY cool.
Some other TechPodcasts of note: Tech Help Weekly begins a new 3-part series on the Asterisk PBX. They will show you how to build a full-featured phone system for your home or small business for less than $200. The Tech Help Weekly podcast at .

A new addition to the site at SDR.com , an array of MobilCast Qualified handsets. The engineers at Melodeo run handsets through the mill and qualify them for the MobilCast service. The list changes every few days, as Sony Ericsson and Nokia enhance and obsolete various model numbers. I’ll try to keep it up to date.
