Thanks to Phil Torrone at the Make podcast for starting the chain of event that’s drawn up to the doorpost at ODEO with an opportunity to host the ODEO Roundup this week at ODEO.com

ODEO asked me to recommend some podcasts that might be of interest to others, and so this week you will have a chance to take a look at my list and a description of some members of the Techpodcast Network available on ODEO, as well as iTunes, iPodder, iPodderX and a number of other podcatcher clients.

So, in no particular order you will find details on

  • Geek News Central
  • PerlCast
  • In the Trenches
  • Killer Innovations Podcast
  • Pro-PHP
  • Web Talk Radio
  • for the technology oriented audience.

Thanks to xaviar for his note concerning the artist Natalie Brown, recently featured on SDR. Natalie is an example of a highly successful commercial artist who has placed some of her work in creative commons, to the benefit of all.

My apologies to the iTunes audience with the late posting of the Weekend Summary. I guess that I did not push the “publish” button hard enough – and this time the tables were turned and it looks like the Bittorrent feed subscribers were first in line. I hope you will be able to catch the Weekend Summary – I think that the artist Kiff Gallagher is one of the best.

Mark your calendars for Saturday September 24 – the third in our series of Go-to-Meeting Live events - make a mental note to go to techpodcasts.com and sign up for the event- at 1:30PM Pacific time. The event is free, but signups are required as attendance is limited.

We should have confirmation from guest speakers in the next few days.

A welcome to those of you who have found SDR through the Roundup feature at ODEO.com . I hope that you’ll hang with us for a couple of days and see what SDR is all about.

Many of the artists that we regularly feature on SDR have joined in support of the Red Cross relief efforts. If you have enjoyed Cindy Alexander,Bascom Hill, Jenna Drey, Walnut Grove Band, and others, here’s your chance:

Over 5000 amazing musicians have chosen to donate ALL money from the sale of their CD *directly* to the Red Cross disaster relief fund.

You’re free to listen to up to half of every album in instant-streaming MP3, so I hope you use this as an excuse to discover some great new music while knowing your money is going to a
    good cause.”

Today’s SDR listener on ODEO.com is tech.samaritan who has a much music as tech in his list. He listens to something called the iodacast -A sampling of new releases and past gems from the catalog of IODA – the Independent Online Distribution Alliance. IODA distributes a catalog of over 125,000 tracks from independent labels of all styles from around the globe.
