Always fun to find something that Slashdot missed – probably for good reason.
What’s new is something over on ZDNET called Whiteboarding.
.Whiteboarding is streaming video of – some guy talking at a whiteboard. Now, you would think that this would be the most boring, innane and cheezy thing that could be done in the world of media – and it is. It is also one of the most intriguing and potentially valuable techniques that videopodcasters – that’s right – the hardy and fool hardy few could adopt right now.
Here’s some of the topics: Whiteboarding 101 - the basics that you learned (or should have learned) about presenting in person with the absolute minimum. Then you can move on to the cool stuff: Nanotubes, Wiki fundamentals, Demand forecasting, rootkits, pharming, dust and mesh networks, RFID, dark fiber and more.
The production values ? Absolutely none. Abysmal lighting, so-so audio. But just like a friendly visit to the guru down the hall it’s a good start on a topic that you are just investigating. Combine it with a highly integrated podcatcher receive client like Lance Robinson’s PrimeTime Podcast Receiver, which is optimized for video , and you have a low footprint delivery/briefing system to those on your private RSS feed.
Today’s SDR listener on ODEO.com is Jarod – who is not currently producing a podcast, but has 17 podcasts on his list that you might find interesting.
Odeo combines aspects of a podcatcher client with a social client like del.ic.ious or digg.com in the world of podcasting. What this means is that not only can you see who has subscribed to the SlashdotReview podcast, you can also see (and try out immediately) podcasts that they recommend.
Add to this the ability to search and sort by content tags, and you have a very interesting way to look into the minds of fellow SDR listeners:“Current ODEO SDR subscribers“. I can guarantee you will find something interesting there that you did not know about.
